Photo Tips
Due to the production process, some photos may have a slight color
shift and may appear grainy and blurry. Photos always become blurrier so do not send us
grainy or blurry or low resolution digital prints /files and expect great results. All
attempts are made to ensure the highest quality in reproduction. Here are some tips to
help you send the best possible photos for the best possible results:
1. Pick a nice location; a park, your front or back yard, a beautiful natural
setting or a vacant lot. Make sure the area is clean of dirt, oil stains and trash. Park
on one surface (not half on the grass and the other on pavement.) Preferably, take all
photos in the same lighting and area.
2. Use the best film & camera possible. 35mm film or a 3 Megapixel or
larger digital camera at the highest setting. Take an extra camera, even a
disposable one, and take a backup roll just in case your first roll looks awful. Get up
close. Fill the frame of your photo with your vehicle. Don't send photos that crop off any
part of your vehicle. Send us digital files on a CD or 3x5 to 8 x10
(preferrably glossy paper) 35mm prints, no lo-res digital prints/files.
3. Make sure your vehicle is lit properly. Always have the sun to your back and
make sure your vehicle isn't in shadow or poor lighting. Sunlight diffused by the clouds
or lighting closer to dusk or dawn may work well.
4. Take the best angle of your vehicle. Turn your front wheels so you can see the
rims rather than the tires. Make sure your tire treads are clean of any leaves, grass,
& mud. Remove all paper, stickers, etc. from window areas. Check for unsightly
reflections or shadows on your vehicle such as; parking lines, trees, houses, other
vehicles, the photo crew, etc...
5. Be creative. Send us back end, front end, engine compartments, interiors, driver
or owner photos, restoration photos, vanity plate close-ups, build sheets, etc... If you
intend to use the Flag option, make sure you send a photo that looks like your vehicle is
busting through a flag.
6. Minor touch-ups or removal of small objects from your photo(s) can be done if
you make a note on a separate sheet of paper. If you want us to perform miracles you
should think of taking that photo over. And, no we can not drop your vehicle into another
background!
7. Have us silhouette your vehicle out of the background (on all photo layouts
except & Show Board layout 8.) This leaves your vehicle with an all white background.
If you'd like this option, check the box that says "remove all my backgrounds"
on the order form.
8. Label all photos with your name and phone number. Also which photo is closest to
your actual color, which is the main photo or number your choices and have us pick. Also,
if ordering trading cards with back photos, label them "Front" or
"Back". Make sure you place a sheet of paper
between each photo so the ink doesn't transfer onto other photos.
